the mission of our coalition

Our purpose is to help bring awareness to the scale of violent crime taking place in Toledo. We hope citizens will not only join our coalition, but demand more accountability from our mayor, as well as other elected and appointed officials.

Over the past 2 years, Toledo's murder rate has reached epic proportions, and unfortunately there is no plan in place to stem the violence— at least not a plan that is working.

We feel that the blood spilled on our city streets is the result of our failure as a community to protect the citizens and neighborhoods of Toledo.

The Coalition is determined to do whatever is necessary to reverse this dangerous and record-breaking trend. Our goal is to prevent that heart-breaking “knock on the door” that too many mothers, fathers, and other loved ones are receiving.

We know that there are many available resources and strategies that will help bring an end to many of these shootings. However, they are not being utilized, and in many cases, “pet projects” are taking priority over public safety. This is not acceptable!

Through social media and our website we plan to shine a light on what is really happening to our once safe city. It is our goal to hold the mayor's, feet to the fire, and city council's also, and establish a context from which to begin for the incoming chief of police when that person is hired.

The number of murders in Toledo over the past 2 years is nothing shy of shocking and the absence of public leadership by our city leaders to stop them is unconscionable.
